Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (morning sickness)
The majority of women who are pregnant suffer from nausea and vomiting of pregnancy and consequent adverse effects on their quality of life. However, this condition is undertreated for many and the impact unacknowledged. Curcumin Bioavailable Extracts
Curcumin undergoes rapid biotransformation which may also account for its limited bioavailability. In addition, following oral administration, curcumin is poorly absorbed, resulting in lower blood concentration with most of it getting excreted in the faeces. Use of curcuminoids in very high doses, however, is not desirable. It would be preferable to attempt to increase the bioavailability of the curcuminoids. Luckily, there are a number of highly bioavailable extracts available. This article discusses the indications of curcumin and reviews some of the enhanced extracts available.
